What do you think ?

Do you ever wonder what it is about therapy that draws so many people in?

I can understand the kind of therapy that comes under the umberlla defined as counselling... when we have suffered a trauma of some kind or another.

I have seen friends recover with the right kind of therapy/counselling and carry on with their lives with renewed vigor whe they were looking down a dark tunnel with no sign of a flicker at the end.

It is the therapy that is used and abused by both therapist and client... that just fails to give me any understanding.

Talking through your problems can be a great way of seeing through the murky mix that our thinking patterns can lead us into. But why talk to a stranger over and over again and pay them for the pleasure, i mean dont people have real friends anymore. Is true friendship and a true friend such a rarity in peoples lives today ?

I have no answers... I have good friends who i help out when times get bad and they need a sane mind to talk to and in the same way they are there for me.

Has therapy taken the place of friendship ?

Comments very welcome

I chose friendship. I wonder sometimes if the reason some people continue what I might see as needless therapy is because they prefer a stranger tell them what they don't want to face as opposed to telling a friend they are right.

It does seem strange. People did not seem to always need constant therapy now everyone is on something....
